According to statistics, there are large number of people especially young adults in the United States of America that are affected by herpes. It makes people doubt that why there are more people with herpes than before. Studies show that as people are open minded about sexual orientation and young adults have less antibodies for any sexually transmitted disease(STDs), like herpes that they might contract through sexual contact.
Through last several years, more and more people concern and take actions to keep their children out of the way of even the simplest diseases. As a result, fewer children have a simple cold. On the contrary, children are not able to create more antibodies to protect themselves from any foreign body when they are older.
Children and young adults will easily contract Herpes simplex virus 1 which is the cause of many common cold sores during the colder months. But it is temporary, and affects the oral region and soon go away, which the body learns to make the necessary antibodies to fight the virus. The body then codes the type of antibodies than the HSV 1 needed to be destroyed, so if the body is affected by HSV 1 again in any manner, it will be easy to get rid of. HSV 1 is usually spread by skin contact or saliva.
As more and more children and young adults do not have cold sore, their bodies never learn to produce antibodies to fight against HSV 1. As a result, they will be easily infected with HSV 1. Statistics show that about 60% of the genital herpes caused is due to HSV 1.
Although the oldest age groups showed relatively stable seroprevalence between the two time periods, 20- to 29-year-olds saw a reduction of nine percent in seroprevalence, while 14- to 19-year-olds saw the most drastic reduction, at 23 percent. Whereas seroprevalence in 14- to 19-year-olds was 39 percent between 1999 and 2004, it dropped to 30.1 percent between 2005 and 2010, representing an absolute difference of nine percent in the age group.
There are 8 types of herpes, Not all types of herpes are dreadful. The two types: HSV 1 and HSV 2 are capable of causing lifelong infections which are incurable. While HSV 1 is spread by external physical contact, HSV 2 is a sexually contracted disease. These two types of diseases are dangerous, and are capable of causing a lot of damage to the body. So, if you have HSV 2, you must bring condoms to protect your partner from that disease.
Different types of herpes have different mode of transmission. If you have HSV-1, that shedding could happen through the mouth or a cold sore, which means that the virus can be transmitted through kissing, or just sharing a drink. If you have herpes that affects the genitals, it can be transmitted from sharing sex toys, grinding, or even mutual masturbation.
All in all, the biggest reason why more young adults are getting herpes is that they are lack of immunity for the herpes virus. Some types of herpes are curable, you can get over it and go on to have a normal life.
